Acceptable Use Policy
We want WeGotFiles to be useful to lots of people, so we have a short list of things you must not do with it. Violations may result in immediate suspension or deletion of your account, and reporting to authorities where required by law.
You must not use the service to share, store, or transmit
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or any content that sexually exploits minors. Such material is reported to Kripos/NCMEC immediately.
- Content that incites violence or terrorism.
- Malware, ransomware, viruses, or any code designed to harm or gain unauthorised access to other systems.
- Material that infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual-property rights you do not hold.
- Personal data of others without a lawful basis (e.g. doxxing, stalking).
- Content that is unlawful where you are, where the recipient is, or where Web Design AS is based.
You must not
- Use disposable / temp-mail addresses to bypass account limits.
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, file-size limits, or expiry settings.
- Probe, scan, or attempt to compromise the service or other users' accounts.
- Send unsolicited bulk email (spam) through transfer-notification emails.
- Resell or relabel the service without a written agreement.
Fair use — this is a transfer service, not a storage service
WeGotFiles exists to move files from a sender to one or more recipients. We aim to keep transfer quotas and file-size limits as generous as our infrastructure allows, but the service is not designed as personal cloud storage, a CDN, or a backup product, and pricing reflects that. The following patterns count as misuse even though no single action is technically forbidden:
- Repeatedly re-uploading the same file to extend its retention beyond the plan's expiry window.
- Sending transfers only to email addresses controlled by the same person, with no real external recipient.
- Using shared download links as a CDN / hot-link source for a website or app.
- Sustained throughput well above what an individual sender would normally generate (e.g. an automated pipeline producing many large transfers per day).
Where we detect such patterns, we may — without affecting other users — apply lower limits to the specific account, throttle further uploads, or ask the account holder to move to a more appropriate product (for example a dedicated storage or CDN provider). Repeated or severe misuse may lead to suspension under the rest of this policy. Genuinely large but legitimate transfer workloads (e.g. studios delivering finals to multiple clients) are welcome — contact us at support@wegotfiles.com and we will work with you rather than throttle in silence.
Reporting abuse
If you encounter content or behaviour on WeGotFiles that violates this policy, please report it to support@wegotfiles.com. Include the transfer URL or sender email if you have it. We respond to abuse reports within 24 hours on business days.
Enforcement
Depending on severity, we may delete the offending content, suspend the account, terminate the account, and/or notify authorities. We may preserve account and content data as needed to comply with legal process.
