WeGotFiles for families

Gather photos and videos in shared folders, and let grandparents and kids get them without fuss.

The birthday photos are scattered across five phones. Grandma wants them, but not a new app, and the video from the confirmation is too big to send by email. Here's a simple way to gather everything in one place.

Create a shared folder

  1. Log in and go to Share folders. Any account can create folders, free ones included.
  2. Type a name, for example "Summer 2026", and tap Create folder. Feel free to make subfolders for each occasion.
  3. Upload with Upload files, or drag the photos straight in.

The folder doesn't expire. It stays until you delete it.

Get the photos from your phone

Open the folder on your computer and scan the QR code with your phone, and the files upload from your phone straight into the folder. No need to send them to yourself first.

Share with the family

You have two options:

  • Share by name. Enter the email address under Share → Grant access. Choose can edit for those who should be able to add their own photos. It's a good idea to create a contact group, "Family", and share with that. When a new daughter-in-law joins, you add her to the group, and she gets access to everything the group has.
  • Share link. Gives read access without an account. Handy for grandparents who just want to look and download. Copy the link right away, it's only shown once.

Set a password on the link, and share it in person or by text message.

When you've added new photos, tap Send update. The family then gets one email, not one per photo.

Pay for Pro for someone else

If Grandma or one of the kids needs more space or longer expiry, you can cover Pro for them with a sponsor seat. They keep their own account, and the bill comes to you. See Sponsor seats.

One-off transfers

If you just want to send one video once, a regular transfer is enough. The recipient doesn't need an account to download.

What you can see yourself

  • Files in the folder go through the same virus check as transfers before they become available.
  • As the owner, you see the Activity and Transfers tabs under the folder. They show who uploaded and downloaded, and when.
  • After upload, each file gets the "Stored in the EU" check.
